About us

Our intimate 39-place facility operates as a long day care and preschool, catering for children aged six weeks to five years of age. Children build strong connections with peers, educators and their surrounding natural environment through play-based, child-centred learning.

These relationships empower children with a sense of security and confidence to investigate and develop their curiosity and wonder about their world and their unique potential within it.

We have been providing care to families within the community for over thirty-five years and therefore know the importance of establishing meaningful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging within children. As the early education and long daycare service in Murwillumbah, managed by parents and families of the children attending, our focus is hinged on honouring the holistic nature of childhood.

This is achieved through delivering an innovative educational program that values diversity and is centred around play, exploration and creativity; with outdoor learning being the foundation of Joey’s pedagogical approach. Our passionate team of educators nurture children’s interests and creativity through experiences in natural play spaces.

Upholding the integrity of childhood.

Our mixed-age style environment promotes a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where children learn not only from our inspiring educators, but also from each other.

Our Space

Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on outdoor exploration, recognising the profound impact nature has on a child's growth.

We encourage children to spend most of their time within our natural surroundings and teach them resourcefulness and sustainability by using elements of nature in learning and play.

As part of our commitment to upholding the integrity of childhood, we celebrate the fact that each child develops at an individual pace and our open-age play space offers a unique opportunity for children to grow with autonomy.

We understand that social and emotional development is optimised when children interact with a diverse array of people and experiences and our mixed-age style environment promotes a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where children learn not only from our inspiring educators but also from each other.

Our educators enjoy the privilege of witnessing our younger children grow through learning new skills and ways of communicating offered by the older children and similarly, the older children learn how to communicate and interact meaningfully with younger peers. This cyclical approach helps solidify children’s sense of responsibility and personal value within their community. Our mixed-age environment also allows siblings to interact throughout the day; helping to maintain our homely and supportive atmosphere.
